the cloud diaries (tonepoet release)

H
ello, dear listeners. It is with great joy that I gift to you some new music from yours truly. I've spent a few years putting this music together a little bit at a time as time permitted to get it where I wanted it to be. Now, it is time to release this into the open spaces to voyage to the cerebral universes of others.

I have 3 releases (possibly 4) set to be released this year with each representing a phenomenon that only Mother Earth and all the natural things within existence can produce for us. I have a deep admiration for all things nature, its forces, and the beauty that we so often seem to take for granted. I hope that my tributes to these chosen themes are sufficient in their deliver.

That said, I present to you THE CLOUD DIARIES. In this release, I take special notice of the skies above. Down below are some Bandcamp codes to get the music. Although the music is free, like all of my releases, there is a booklet attached to the release that either requires a Bandcamp code or a purchase. If you want a code, simply contact me for a zero-spam response.

Enjoy the music, dear listeners, and peace.

radiant pastures (tonepoet release)

Radiant_Pastures_Front_Cover71tx8.jpg

Dear listeners, I have a unique listening event for you all. Normally, your old boy Tonepoet would not post his own music except by sneakily inserting into an episode. Well, I just released some new music, and I really wanted to share this with you all. I've created a special mix of the album in its entirety. I've sought to build a tapestry for admiring Mother Nature's earthly canvas as best I could. Here is a synopsis from the liner notes:

new release: kaleidoscope

We are in turbulent times with so many uncertainties and situations that are causing anguish and unrest around the world. If you're like me, you tend to worry about people in general, and hearing of such misfortune that people are facing, it tends to weigh heavy on my mind. My escape has always been (and will always be) losing myself temporarily in music. If there's any sort of consolation that I can offer, it would be what I produce in some manner for the masses. As much as I enjoy doing podcast episodes (because I really do!), I also enjoy writing and recording music. Today is my birthday, and I'm gifting everyone my latest release. As I sit here in a somewhat solitary situation, it warms my heart to be able to have the opportunity to share something that will hopefully help you mentally rise above the problems that currently exist for you. I ask nothing of it, and my only reward is knowing that I somehow gave you some sort of solace, peace, and comfort.

daydreaming in a sea of stars

Now that we've dipped our toes into the celestial heavens on our last voyage (in effort to gauge the cascading ripples of the skyward current), it is safe to say that the celestial oceans are now at ideal conditions for our immersion. Current systems here at Spaceman's Transmissions are at 100% capacity for a deep dive to the depths of that twilight beyond own galactic curtain. Within the safety of our individual listening pods, we will transverse across the obstacles of time and space, and for a mere hour we'll lose ourselves while soaring just above and beyond the terrestrial horizon that we feel bound to. Have comfort in knowing that the systems integrations for interstellar travel are of top priority here at Spaceman's Transmissions. Our staff maintains that successful flight and the aural experience potential is at the upmost importance for our innumerable well pleased clients.

dreamer's, unite!

It's been a good while since I've had the opportunity to sit down and review a good bit of the music that I've been sent (thank you all for sending music, I've gotten so very much and it means a lot to me!). During that time, I've had to tend to some personal matters. This required a re-routing of my original destination in effort to assist wandering souls in calibrating their compasses to pinpoint and sustain an optimal voyage destination. It can sometimes feel as though it is a thankful task, but it never goes unnoticed. Touching the hearts and souls of others is and will always be the reward for which no monetary value can determine.

Throughout any turmoil from others as well as myself, I sought to lose myself within the colorful universe of our collectively cherished existence: the beauty and solace of music. Even now as I present to you my travel log that exposes my deepest thoughts, I am swimming deeply in an ocean that is created by swirling magical colors, riding a peaceful current of pillow-soft dreams, and capturing the visions that will never have capable words to describe them. It would be selfish of me to not break off a piece of this hypnotically beautiful confection to share with like-minded wandering travelers. Rather than to present raw ingredients without appropriate instructions, I relish that ability to package this experience into a digestible morsel for your ears and mind. This offering is certified organic and uses only the freshest ingredients for every palate to enjoy. And it's allergy-free!

taking flight

Greetings, dear wanderers in light and sound. I have been busy this year with trying to write new music, and I'm here with yet another release that I'm happy to share with you. I was approached by a gentleman named Grael who asked if he could use some of my music for a documentary on skateboarding. As skateboarding is near and dear to my heart (it really is), I gladly obliged. While I initially only offered some of my pre-released stuff, I took on the task of creating some new music. Not everything was going to be used for the film, but I decided that whatever I did write during this period would be put on this release. So there you have it.

relics

Hello, everyone. I've just curated a collection of my favorite tracks (51 of them) along with 2 unreleased tracks. The release is free of charge, no need to pay a dime! I more or less just want to have a representation of my creations within one single compilation. Excepting those 2 new songs, everything is from prior releases. I'm in the works of finishing up a brand new release and am in the final stages of it.

N/E/W/S

Hello to you all drifting among the ether of cyberspace. I am very happy to present to you my latest release entitled N/E/W/S. I've compiled sessions over the past 2 years as well as compositions that have sat in a vault, awaiting the opportunity to be developed from seedlings into living entities. My art is now ready to see daylight. With the afforded time, I was allowed to put a bit of effort into what I believe would be compositions worthy of stamp of approval. That said, I'm extremely ecstatic to be given the chance to share N/E/W/S with you all! It has surpassed my expectations in its development. I planned for a 4 song EP, but didn't want to churn something that didn't move me. I still wanted strong compositions and honest melodies, and hopefully, I believe that I have achieved that mission. What was supposed to be two distinctly different releases have been combined into this one effort to allow me the opportunity to share everything that I have in one fell swoop.

soundtrack for imaginary spaces

I
'm VERY happy today that I have (finally) completed a project that has taken me a year. It has a been a very difficult year trying to make the time to get ideas down, compositions written, and all of the technical details ironed out. Perseverance has fortunately paid off and I can finally deliver the strongest music that I've been able to write in the time that I've been doing this.

This is a pay-what-you-want release. If you feel like paying, beautiful. If not, also beautiful. Even if you pay the bare minimum you will get a PDF booklet with explanations of every variation of artwork that I had considered as front covers for this release. You also get all of the artwork. If you want the music, and the artwork, but are not in a position to pay, just contact me and I'll be more than happy to send you a download code. No strings attached (no email lists, or spam or any of that other garbage, I hate that as much as anyone).

resonate / reason nitrate

Hey there. I've put together a new release witha little bit of help from the unbelievable composer WINGS OF AN ANGEL (whose release OUR FORGOTTEN INFINITY AND THE ABSOLUTE ZERO  will without a doubt go down as my favorite release of 2015). I've been working on this for a while, and after some great communication exchanges with WOaA, we decided to merge our collective thinking into an 18-song album coming in at almost 2 hours of music. I can't express the elation and satisfaction that I am experiencing in being able to present this to the world. Every soundscape and ethereal tapestry is covered in this release, and its sonic presentation will please every listener.

soundcloud

Tonepoet On Soundcloud
I've finally did something that I've been meaning to do for a bit. I've taken the old demo-ish things off of Soundcloud and put up higher quality MP3's of all that I've recorded and released from every project. There is one song on the Harmony & Decay release (Illumination) that is quite dark (entitled "Rapid Eye Movement") that I left off of the Bandcamp release that can be found here (finally). All sets are downloads, so feel free to grab it up, just click the big button on the right to get there. Peace.

we've come undone

Hello, everyone. I'm really proud to announce that I've managed to conjure up some more music for your ears, mind, and soul. You can snag my latest release entitled WE'VE COME UNDONE. Like the last release, I put quite a bit of time into it, with the writing, recording, and mastering. I'm really proud of this, so by all means, if you like the music (and I think that you will), feel free to let me know, share with your friends, and enjoy it! Peace.

a human being is a human dreaming

Hello, fellow space travelers. I'm back with a new ambient mix of some great things that I've been getting into my head lately. First off, I wanted to express the fact that I took the title for this mix from the song of the same title by Maiya Hersey from FUTURESEQUENCE8 (which is included in this mix). Great title, amazing composition.

When the music begins to drift into your mental space, allow it to form the cloudy blanket that will encompass your good thoughts and filter out the negative turmoil. This incubating layer will form the egg that will eventually hatch your renewal into peace. The aural comfort that you seek will be placed gently upon your physical vessel (known as the human being). Allow your mind to immerse itself into the dream world that awaits. The sanctuary there will breathe new life into your soul and spur a regeneration of creative thoughts, ideas, and tranquility. This is when you truly become the human dreaming. Upon completion of this sequence, the mission will be considered a success.

headspace

Finally got this all mixed (to the best of my ability, not sure if that says much) and put out the door. I've been working on this for months, no kidding. I've learned a lot about the entire recording process (always do), and about organizing myself (biggest nightmare ever). Anyhow, to everyone, here is my gift to you. There is over an hour's worth of music on this, and I was very meticulous in creating the right sounds, getting everything to line up really nice, and having a very large diverse bit of music to satisfy every type of ambient music lover. I did post this up on Soundcloud a while back, but the songs have evolved quite a bit since then and have had much better treatment.

memories of the unknown

Deja vu (sorry for the lack of correct characters over the letters) can be described as a sensation of realizing the remembrance of a certain event or place, whether you've actually experienced it or not. We see things, and we remember. We hear things, we remember. Our entire lives are based upon memories, and how they stitch us up shapes who we are. We are formed like clay from the sights and sounds that were with us longer than we can remember.

I spent a bit of time this summer at my childhood hometown, and seeing so many familiar things brought back floods of intense feelings. But for the life of me, I couldn't quite put my finger on why. Everything was very much a part of my life, but at the same time very distant from me. I tried to recapture and revive the initial moments of certain landmarks that had meant so much to me many years ago. But in the end, I gave in, retiring the fuzzy thoughts to my gray matter as balloons that I had let go so many years ago. Like most, I could spend all of my time and energy seeking the puzzle pieces that have long turned into a wind-torn memory.

collaboration: fading light (part I & 2)

Tonepoet
I can say that for me, it's a dream come true to have finally been involved in a collaboration with a mix-artist that is without a doubt one of my favorites. I've been digging on JUNKYARD ANGEL's mixes since he first started uploading mixes on Mixcloud. I've hosted his mixes here quite a bit (more than anyone else), and have had such candid and (dear I say?) brotherly contact with him despite our differences in time, culture, and location. All of his music lives on my media player, and accompanies me on my bike rides, in my car, or anywhere else that I use it (which is everywhere) for getting my fix of great new music. I save his comments, and mark his emails as 'unread' so that I can take in his wit and gather the positive vibe that he exudes again and again.

We've talked long about our musical interests, and lives in general. We've actually bounced a few original ideas (that we'll get to at some point) back and forth. This, hopefully, serves as a springboard for that. I have to say, that after listening to so many of his mixes repeatedly, I would definitely have to bring my 'A' game with a mix. His vision for melding the bizarre, accentuating the awe-inspiring, and conjuring the twist of fear is something that marvels me. I brought the suggestion of a sort of final swan song or opus, as I've had mostly lighthearted mixes, and I knew that he would be able to pull out his magic wand and develop such a great story. Hence the name 'fading light'. It could mean the close of a day, a final breath, a dying thought, or a moment that has expired. While I could ramble on with all of this, I'm passing the torch over to Junkyard Angel for the remainder of the narrative. One last thing: if feels good to ride on the backs of angels.

rusted sun collective

Just did a collaborative EP with 2 other musicians (Javier Bilbao and Jon Wheeler aka PETAL) in a group effort entitled RUSTED SUN COLLECTIVE. We call the release 'Communicate'. With the download comes all the artwork that tags the files (each song has a different set of artwork tagged to it). We were blessed by CARAS IONUT to be allowed to tag our song 'For The Father We Never Found' with his artwork entitled 'Fresh Air' (many, MANY thanks to him for that!). Please pay him a visit on his website! To quote the narrative from the Bandcamp page:

mixcloud charts

It came to a bit of a surprise that recently Mixcloud started charting releases. With each tag, there is a weekly rating of how each mix is with reference to the ratio of plays to likes (or some such sorcery and math, it all confuses me). FOR THE LONELY SOULS somehow has ended up on the chart for electronic music and also for ambient music. Not only that, it's doing well (not as many plays as everything around it, but the likes per play make a huge difference, I assume). I've reached 12th on the electronic charts (with Mixmaster Morris leading the march!), and 13th on the ambient charts. Very, very happy and stoked to be supported like this from listeners in the biggest way. It really makes my day, no doubt, and I thank everyone that listens and likes. I have some great things planned this year, and glad to be a part of the Mixcloud family! Peace.

(edit: as of the 2nd of June, the mix reached 10th in the Electronic charts and 11th in the Ambient charts...........so very cool!)

for the lonely souls

Most of the time that I do my really deep music listening, it's when I'm lost within my own thoughts. I don't have to converse with others, do any sort of active reasoning on anything, or have judgments or ponder solutions. My mind is a sponge, open and dynamic, my mood and feelings shaped by oncoming colors that slowly build castles in my mind.

I created this mix for the sleepers, for those needing time to put on headphones and breathe deeply, the ones who want to hear the thoughts within their own grey matter without obstruction, the souls that want to have a soundtrack for a moment in their lives, the ones who need a backdrop for contemplative pondering.........in the end, it's for the listener that craves a bit of solace in a chaotic world, and to aid your soul searching, surrounded by the colors of peace and solitude.

deeper space (beyond the mind's eye)

Let's take a bit of time to delve into the inner workings of our cerebral cortex, to the place where sight becomes sound, color has flavor, and moods create life. We'll use this area of our minds to take in the sounds of this mix, and sail gently into the ether of peace and tranquility. Allow the sounds to rinse away the bad vibes and negative moments that plague you, as they are replaced with a renewed sense of creativity, clarity, and focus.

As I come home from a long 32 day tour of playing music and a lot of traveling, it is nice to have my first day blessed with amazingly sunny and warm weather (after being in states like Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and so on....). I'm greeted by birds singing outside, and the smell of the fresh sunshine-laden earth. Nothing can be better than that, and the sense of peace and joy is reflected in this mix that I present to you. While I did buy quite a bit of new music on tour, I decided to create something from what's been on my secret mixtape rather than use my new morsels (which are being saved for the next mix). It took me quite a bit of time to fully realize and bring into fruition what I've put together here, and I really hope that you like it.
